“SIDESHOW BARKER” PUGZEE.
Yes! The newest version of Dave Cortes’ Pugzee is now here. This version is called Sideshow Barker and is limited to 200 pieces. It will come with all the items that came with the other versions of Pugzee but will also come with an original sidekick named Vinnie Hotdogs, a cool boardwalk base and retro packaging. Vinnie Hotdogs will come in 5 different limited colors that will be selected at random with every purchase. Incredible! It will retail for $64.99 and for everything this cool figure comes with, that is a major steal. The buzz on this figure has been really crazy and I’m almost predicting that it sells out in a few hours, if not in a few mins. Do not sleep! We will put them up for sale on Friday – Sept 18th at 12am EST.
*The version of Vinnie Hotdogs pictured in the images is not the one that Sideshow Barker will come with. The Vinnie Hotdogs that will come with each Sideshow Barker will be selected at random from 5 different colors.
Here’s some more info about Sideshow Barker:
Renowned toy designer/sculptor Dave Cortes (Inu Art) will be releasing the latest version of his Pugzee designer toy this Friday Oct. 18th. This is the 3rd version of Pugzee and is called Sideshow Barker. This version of Pugzee follows up after the first two – Jailbreaker and Street Version, and pays tribute to another legendary Brooklyn neighborhood, Coney Island. Just like Red Hook, Coney Island has been through it’s own transformations, from Luna to Steeplechase Park to Coney Island. Throughout Coney’s changes, one thing remained, a fixture of Coney Island, the sideshows. What Pugzee is to Red Hook is what Sideshow Barker is to Coney Island.

This awesome paint job of “Sideshow Barker” Pugzee was designed and executed by Brandy Anderson. Brandy Anderson is responsible for painting every prototype produced by Inu Art and has been working with Dave Cortes for over 6 years. Sideshow Barker, appropriately named by Brandy Anderson was conceived when Dave Cortes dropped a blank resin casting at Brandy’s place with the idea that she should paint it whatever way she wanted. Dave was blown away when Brandy dropped off the tatted pug as Coney Island’s Illustrated Man.

Sideshow Barker will come with the same accessories as the Jailbreaker and Streetwise versions, but will also include a limited color casting of his boardwalk buddy “Vinny Hotdogs”. This dirty Nathan Hotdog eatin’ Rat will come in 40 different casted colors. Each casted color will be limited to 5 of a kind. Colors will range from opaque to clear tinted and will be selected at random with every Sideshow Barker purchase.

We will be putting Sideshow Barker up for sale on Friday – Sept. 18th at 12am EST. The buzz on this piece is so strong that we are predicting a quick sellout of the 200 pieces. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to get your hand on one of these pieces!

COOL CUSTOMS.
I came across this article showcasing 60 different custom toy designs. For those who are not familiar with what is meant by custom toy design – the toy itself is a blank canvas, usually all white with no paint and an artist or designer gets to paint them or customize them whichever way they want. I love looking at custom designs because it really gives people a chance to be super creative with what they come up with. It’s also a really good form of expression for an artist or anybody in general. The article has 60 really cool designs, some great stuff to look at. I’ve posted my top 10 below but go here to check them all out and decide on your top 10.

TOYS FOR RICH AND HIP ADULTS.
I was making the rounds of my daily web hunts and caught an interesting article about designer toys and the art auction house – Phillips de Pury. To keep the suspense going, I’ll just let you go here to read the piece but I do have to say that it’s interesting to see auction houses start to take designer toys more seriously. It’s definitely a great thing for brands like us because people will start to understand that this is a serious art form. These toys are for adult collectors and there’s a huge community built around it. Go check out the article and here’s a couple of pics from the Phillips website. If you have a few dollars to spare, there’s definitely some good pieces here…and when I said a few dollars, I hope you know I meant in the hundreds and thousands. This is an art auction after all…

This video kind of ties into some of the stuff we’re doing for our Stay True project, but we’re not ready to drop full details yet so hold on tight. Check out the video while we recover from our Bamboo Banger party last night..pictures from last night coming soon.
