Thanks to Chris Cole and Lawrence Whiting who came down to Toy Street and shot this really cool short video of the event. Thanks guys and see you again next year.
Pictured below, Ron English signing a poster for a fan at Toy Street….Check out the Toy Street blog for more pictures and recap of Toy Street. It was so much fun and lots of people came out! Can’t wait till the next one!
Toy Street is fast approaching and we’re crazy excited about this one. We’ve got a lot of good folks involved and it’s going to be insane. Also, we’ll be premiering the 1st colorway of our Sneakerhead designer figure as well as 5 custom hand painted Sneakerheads by 5 different artists. Trust us, you do not want to miss it. See you on the 22nd!
In addition to the 200+ ToyStreet pictures we have here, our friend King Texas who is an amazing photographer also sent over a few pictures she snapped while stopping by briefly to enjoy the event. Really nice shots! Thanks Tex!
Huge thanks to everybody who came to the ToyStreet launch! We had a good turnout and it was great to see people come out to support the designer toys/art/culture scene here in NYC. It was truly a blessing to be able to pull this off and we appreciate the support from everyone. This would never have happened without you folks and we look forward to continuing to do many more ToyStreets.
Also, a major thanks to the 2 talented bands that kept us entertained – Elizabeth The Band and Shinobi Ninja. Shout out to our very own Dj Jon Blak as well who kept the good music flowing through the ToyStreet speakers. It was definitely a great launch of what will be a staple event here in New York City.
ToyStreet is finally here! Today at 268 Mulberry Street, between Prince St & Houston St. 4pm – 9pm. It’s going to be lots of fun! Also, 1st 25 people at the door by 4pm will get a free copy of Stay True Vol 1. Cheers! See you at ToyStreet!
ToyStreet is only 2 days away!!! As we countdown to Friday, we’re happy to introduce you to another one of our event sponsors – The Klusive Brand.
In their own words: The Klusive brand founded in 1993 by two New York natives, but it wasn’t until 2006 that the visuals went from its designers’ mind to clothing. The line is inspired by Brooklyn culture and identifiable characters and situations from everyday life. In addition to that, Klusive is a perfect example why streetwear isn’t just about clothes. It’s a lifestyle, art, culture, and passion we incorporate in every piece of our garments.
Cubeecraft (pronounced “kyoob-ee”) papercraft toys feature interlocking tabs and slots for construction – eliminating the need for tape, glue or other messy adhesives. These designer toys are the brain child of Chris Beaumont, a Philadelphia native. Chris moved to New York to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, earning a BFA in Communication Design. Also an alumni of several saturday morning cartoons, Chris has left his mark on many properties, such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Resident Evil, Scott Pilgrim, Penny Arcade, The Princess Bride and the Sesame Workshop, just to name a few. Cubeecraft has recently begun exhibiting and selling large scale original designs which we are proud to offer to the toy collecting public for the first time at Toy Street.
As you should already know or now know, ToyStreet is coming up in 2 weeks. You definitely do not want to miss it as it is going to be a fun experience. We’re happy to have some good folks down with ToyStreet and it’s time to shine the spotlight on one of our sponsors as well as an artist who will have a booth at ToyStreet – Sucklord.
Sucklord is an artists’ artist. The type of artist that believes in an artist creating art from start to finish by themselves. The type of artist who’s outspoken and you can either respect for that or dislike. (We respect him 100% for that, FYI). A straight up NYC bad-ass super talented artist. He embodies the true essence of what an artist is. He’s been creating handmade toys for years and is one of the more popular individuals in the designer toy scene. He’s been in plenty of magazines and all his pieces sell out pretty quickly, and since they’re mostly handmade, these are true collector’s items. Check out his Bootleg figures for some of the dopest sh*t you will ever see.
Here’s his bio taken directly off his site. Visit his site for more info on Sucklord and to check out all the dope stuff that he has on there. He will be present at ToyStreet with exclusive pieces!
“SUCKADELIC is an Evil Arts Organization that has made a name for itself thru creative toy bootlegging and illicit remix records…Owned and operated by the mysterious SUCKLORD of CHINATOWN, Suckadelic takes nerdy obsessions to the heights of hipster cool…
Greatest hits include the unlicensed STAR WARS BREAKBEATS album and the radical GAY EMPIRE: HOMO-TROOPER figure. Made by sweatshop labor in New York City’s Chinatown, Suckadelic is by far the sleaziest toy brand in the game. Adding to the mix is an ongoing series of internet videos and commercials, featuring the Sucklord and his enemys in the ORIGINAL VILLAIN NETWORK. SUCKADELIC is comitted to bringing more toys, more movies, and more musical buggouts thru 2009 and beyond. Stay Tuned.”
Also, check out this cool video from Sucklord for a custom Suckadelic show that happened a while back. There’s lots of cool videos on his site that you have to go check out…right here.
