MR. BRAINWASH – ICONS.

Got a chance to go check out popular street artist Mr. Brainwash‘s art show on Valentine’s day at a 15,000 square foot space in the meat packing district here in NYC. It was madness down there yet incredible to see. He was giving away 300 free prints to the 1st 300 guests that showed up (I was one of the 300) and folks were already on line as early as 10am, though the show was set to start at 3pm…and they actually didn’t start letting us in till 4pm. The show was titled “Icons” and the works centered around popular figures, past and present. There were also some interesting abstract pieces…such as “the matchbox Real NYC Taxi cab”…”the Louis Vuitton Graffiti can”…”the life sized rubber tire sculptures”…it was definitely a sight to see. What I’m most impressed with about Brainwash are his portrait paintings that are made out of vinyl records…and he had tons of them at the show.
