RUNS DEEP SLOGAN.

One of our brand supporters brought this to our attention. Yesterday, we found out about Chevrolet aka Chevy’s new marketing slogan “Chevy runs deep”. Well for anybody that’s been following our brand since 2008, you will know that we’ve always used the slogan “The Cookies Mob runs deep”. It’s a slogan that we’ve used to represent us and all the wonderful people just like you that support the brand. It’s a slogan we’ve stood behind since the brand inception and have given life to due to the support of folks from all over the world. It’s not some catchy marketing slogan of the moment by a car company trying to sell more cars. It’s something that means much more. While we appreciate the compliment of a big corporate company biting from a cool little brand from New York City, it was still rather shocking to see Chevy use our slogan.

Our RUNS DEEP tee that is presently sold out.

What’s even more puzzling is that the slogan “Chevy runs deep” doesn’t even tie into their brand in any way. Is a slogan like that supposed to help them sell more cars? Not really, if you ask me…and if you don’t believe, google Chevy runs deep and see the backlash from people making fun of them with their “new slogan”. Plain and simple, it makes no sense. There is nothing that makes me want a Chevy from seeing that slogan. Maybe they thought it would make them cool to use our slogan. Rude awakening, they just lost points with plenty of possible Chevy customers because they don’t know who they are. What happened to their “Like a Rock” slogan from the 90s, or the very latest one they just dumped “Excellence for all”? None of that seems to be working anymore? Well, rather than focus on finding some marketing slogan that will make people buy more cars, how about you actually work on creating more innovative cars that will actually get people to really look into buying a Chevy. Consumers aren’t stupid. Some new marketing slogan will not all of a sudden help you sell more cars. You have to engineer consumer growth from the bottom. Do things that will appeal to your customer base and also allow new people to want a Chevy. One such advice I can give is for them to ask folks what they don’t like about Chevys and work on fixing those things, then let people know. That is how to build long term growth rather than looking for some new catchy slogan.

So Chevy, how about you stop biting us with your new “runs deep” slogan and get your own original slogan…something that comes from you actually working on building growth from a grassroots perspective. Then, maybe you’ll get some respect and more people to consider buying a Chevy.
