BIZ AS USUAL.
Another day at the Cookies -N- Cream NYC mobile shop. Thanks to all the folks that stopped by. I’ve said several times and will continue to say that we have some of the best folks supporting the brand. We couldn’t ask for a better group of supporters and we’re thankful for that. Check out a few pictures of some folks that stopped by recently below as well as random shenanigans at the shop.
Jon (Who is a DJ for those who don’t know) was spinning music from his Ipad via some DJ application. Cool app, does a decent job though the song transition on the app could be a little more seamless….and can someone tell Jon to wipe the face of his Ipad?

Jon stops spinning music at the mobile shop to do a quick interview….he’s living the life huh?

ILLER.
Cookies -N- Cream as a whole has always been a lifestyle medium before anything. A lifestyle medium that allows us to curate content we release to the public, all influenced by New York City, all the things we’ve grown up on/are still around to this day as well as youth culture. Music is one of those influences. We listen to all types of music but hip hop is definitely a big influence for us. As we continue to grow, we’ll be putting out more music projects with many of our friends that are creating good music. With that in mind, we got together with our long time friend Adam from Perfect Time Publishing who got us involved with a music project by a group based out of Boston called The High Life.
The High Life, is a hip hop group consisting of 4 emcees: Carolina Black, Dominik Omega, VICEVERSAH and Fran P. They have been bubbling in the underground scene in Boston and their style is what hip hop used to be all about – a dope beat, simple hook and emcees ripping on it.
Without further ado, check out the ILLER mixtape by The High Life. Stream the full mixtape below, enjoy.
Get Right Music x Cookies -N- Cream x Perfect Time Publishing presents a ILLER, a new mixtape from the Boston based hip hop group – The High Life.

BEAUTIFUL LOSERS.
BEAUTIFUL LOSERS, a film by Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard
BEAUTIFUL LOSERS celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.
In the early 1990′s a loose-knit group of like-minded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip-hop, and graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the “establishment” art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, created a movement that transformed pop culture.
Starring Shepard Fairey, OBEY founder and creator of the Barack Obama “Hope” poster; award-winning pro skater Ed Templeton; Harmony Korine, writer of the cult favorite KIDS and director of GUMMO and MISTER LONELY; and Mike Mills, director of THUMBSUCKER and designer of album covers for Beck, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, and more. Also starring Barry McGee, Chris Johanson, Geoff McFetridge, Jo Jackson, Margaret Kilgallen, Stephen Powers, and Thomas Campbell.

As we were wrapping for the day, there were a group of three young dudes that stopped by. Music blasting from the speakers, the next few minutes became a show as they started to cook. We created a scene as always….that’s what NYC is all about.

ODE TO RAEKWON.
ODE TO RAEKWON by our homie T-Shirt, shot by our family at Hot Mop Films. This was a really well done video. I love the way the Chinese movies are juxtaposed in the video and also the sections with the plain text popping in and out. This was a well thought out video and was executed beautifully. T-Shirt spazzed on this too: “….My attitude is f*ck it, I’m living out of a luggage/at least I got some good taste, one of a kind duffels….”

THE CHEF.
Our intern Cody aka “Cody The Chef” posted up at the NYC mobile shop, rocking our one of a kind Toy Lords of Chinatown mask. If you are wondering why we call him “The Chef”, it’s because he does a mean cooking dance. If you’re ever by the mobile and he’s there, ask them to throw on Lil B’s Wonton Soup and watch Cody cook you up a nice meal like a 5 star chef. It’s a sight to behold.

THROWBACK.
Long sold out Cookies -N- Cream King’s Crest t-shirt. This one sold out really fast. We still get so many requests from people asking for this one but as you know or should know, most of the stuff we produce is in limited quantities and once sold out, that’s pretty much it. Never to be re-produced again so if you own one, you’re holding on to gold.

BEACHED HOUSE.
Beached House in Coastal Victoria, Australia. Design by BKK Architects. Saw this via one of my blog reads and had to post it here. Really interesting structure and I can appreciate the minimalist approach for the interior. Really well put together as a whole. Check out some more information on the Beached House here.

IRENE.
Been a crazy past couple of days here in New York City as we prepared for Hurricane Irene. The Mayor declared mandatory evacuation for some parts of the city, supermarkets were packed with people stocking up on food and supplies, public transportation was suspended (all trains and buses), and everyone was advised to stay home. It felt like the preparation for an end of the world scenario (in my opinion) with the way things played out.
Then Saturday came…and we sat and waited..and waited for Irene to hit. The streets were pretty much empty, which is damn near next to impossible for a place like New York. Sometime Saturday evening, the rain started coming down. Irene was coming. It rained..and rained..strong and loud howling winds outside. It was a pretty bad storm. I slept through most of it, woke up around 9am today and it was pretty much all done. Irene had came and gone. Other than lots of water and floods in some parts of New York and surrounding areas, loss of power for some, some tree uprooting in some places, there doesn’t seem to have been much damage caused from the hurricane. Glad to see that the damage has been minor for the most part. Now that it’s all over, NYC life goes on. Stay Up.
