BOOMBUNNY.
Here’s one of the secret projects we’ve been working on, a new toy called BoomBunny. The brainchild of myself and our friend/resident toy designer Mekazoo (who designed the Robolucha), the BoomBunny is a toy we’re working hard on bringing to life. At the moment, the development is still in progress. We were in discussions with a couple of big toy companies to produce the BoomBunny but talks fell through, so we’re kind of going at this one by ourselves.

It’s a really cool piece and everybody we’ve shown it to has fallen in love with the BoomBunny, and can’t wait till we produce them. The piece will be about 4″ tall and the ears will be detachable as you can see below. We’re not sure on quantity yet but probably 500 at the most if we do vinyl and smaller quantities if we do resin.

We will also work on producing blank DIY ones. The Boombox head definitely gives a lot of space for customization so this will be a great platform for artists. The sculpt will be done by our good friend and acclaimed toy sculptor Dave Cortes, and he has even done a 3D 360 view of the piece which you can check out in the video below.
We can’t wait till we’re able to produce the BoomBunny and have the actual figure in our hands. Once we get the first one done, we’ll also continue to work on producing different style BoomBunnies and colorways. We’re super excited!

CABBIE.
Here’s some left over pics from the trip to Paris. During the time there, one of the things that fascinated me was that their cabs were all really nice cars, the type of cars that we would consider expensive over here in the states. Mercedes Benzs, BMWs, Audis and so on. Of course, since most of these cars are made in Europe, they’re inexpensive out there and thus explains them being used as cabs but I still thought it was pretty cool, considering that these are the type of cars people here in the States purchase to show wealth or that they’re well off. You know I had to take pics….

“HAFFI MEK DI CREAM” DANCEHALL MIX VOL 1.
It’s with great pleasure that we’re announcing today as the official drop date for the Cookies -n- Cream x Rampage Sound “Haffi Mek Di Cream” dancehall mixtape vol 1. Packed full with 52 of the sickest dancehall tunes, mixed and produced by a dope dj crew based out of NYC – Rampage Sound (Rampage, FatFingaz, Yos).

Since day one of this brand, we’ve always considered Cookies -n- Cream as a brand that encompasses the different cultures we grew up on and are surrounded by, as opposed to just a “clothing & designer toys brand”. Being able to put our brand name behind select (and I do mean select) products, events or anything else is one of the things that keeps Cookies -n- Cream interesting and refreshing to us. As you should know from here and the many music posts we’ve done, music has always been a big influence on the brand. Heck, one of the partners in our brand is a DJ (Jon Blak). Whether it’s hip hop, electro, rock, alternative music, dancehall, baltimore club music or 2 guys beating a drum somewhere, it doesn’t matter to us. We just enjoy good creative music regardless of genre.

Consider this the first of many wonderful things to come from Cookies -n- Cream. Download Haffi Mek Di Cream here for FREE. Enjoy (and I know you will), you’re all welcome.

LIL NAYSHUNZ.
Here’s some great news from our friend, talented artist Rob Luciano. He’s dropping his first designer toy called Lil Nayshunz. I was privileged to see this piece as it went through the process of being completed and I’m glad to see the final piece. Really cool little figure and there’s a great message associated with the piece.

Here’s some info from the press release -
Robert s. Luciano and his WiseApple Studios is jumping on this trend by announcing the release of his LiL Nayshunz™, due in stores the 3rd quarter of 2009. The first wave in an ongoing line of cool designer toys. The first assortment includes the Puerto Rican character Esteban (or Stevie) which can be found at http://lilnayshunz.com.The other nations to be included in the future will be USA, Dominican, Italian, Cuban, Colombian, Mexican, Irish, Indian, Jamaican as well as many more.

Welcome to the LiL Nayshunz™ movement
In a world often divided by borders, cultural differences and reasons to dis-agree, Lil Nayshunz™ was created to put an end to all of this and get people back to connecting to our common humanity, by sharing our own differences. We all have so much to share, like our heritage and to experience other people’s backgrounds, maybe with a LiL inspired idea like LiL Nayshunz™, the world will start feeling a LiL more friendly, more together and way more open to what makes each and everyone of us unique . . . . our own LiL specialness.
LiL Nayshunz™ is a group of kids from all walks of life who share in fun adventures and see each other as equals. LiL Nayshunz™ would like to bring back the times of people getting together and just having fun and sharing a smile as well as getting to know your neighbor no matter how different and simply getting to know what their culture is about, as well as being proud of your own flag and what it represents.
Simply put this movement is about . . . . . . UNITY

..and here’s a picture of Rob posing with Esteban aka Stevie…..

These will retail for $10 when they drop…stay tuned to the website for more info.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE.
What’s a trip to London without visiting the Buckingham Palace? I had to check it out. The sheer magnificence of this place is hard to explain. You have to see it to believe it. I took some pics which you can check out below. As you should expect, it was packed with tourists in front of it taking lots of pictures. Definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in the UK.

OLD SKOOL.
“….Don’t let me take it to the old skool…”
I saw this a while back and meant to post it here but it skipped my mind. It’s a site with a bunch of old skool hip hop flyers…majority of them were before I was born and I’m assuming most of you folks as well but it’s cool to see what kind of design work was done on party flyers back in the days. With the advent of computer programs that make design work relatively easy, nowadays anybody can practically create a flyer but can you imagine what it would have been like to create one back then? These were all done by hand with a bunch of different materials that are probably extinct today and it was only a select few that knew how to make flyers at the time. I’ve posted some of the flyers below but please visit the site here for a whole LOT more, it’s worth it…

KEEP IT FUNKY.
Some funky house tunes to help you enjoy the wknd…courtesy of my introduction to funky house from my visit to London…
Crazy Cousinz feat. Calista – Bongo Jam
I’ve actually been into Crazy Cousinz music for a while, but I never knew their sound was considered funky house till now….
Donaeo – Devil in a Blue Dress
This song is one of the biggest songs in the UK at the moment. It’s by Gracious “Nappa Man” K (the guy in the gray sweatshirt) and it has a dance as well. I wasn’t able to find a video for the song but I also didn’t want to just post the song with showing the dance. So I found the closest thing to a video which is a clip of a radio interview with Gracious where he does the dance to his song with the radio crew….
Gracious “Nappa Man” K – Migraine Skank
if you want to get in to some more funky house music like I’ve been doing lately, just go to youtube and type in “funky house music” and you’ll get tons of links to different songs and mixes. Enjoy.

PARIS – PART 1.
As I mentioned before, I went to Paris for 2 days while in London and pretty much spent almost all of both days touring the city. Paris is an amazing city with lots of history…I took lots of pictures and since it’ll be way too much work to upload all the pictures at once, I will be putting them up in parts with this being Part 1. Enjoy this first set.
This is the area where I stayed in Paris – Republique…that’s the train station sign….

I walked around the neighborhood and caught some pics of some french graffiti…

I took this pic by Montmartre-Anvers…

..and I took these by Blanche which is an area close to the Montmartre that’s flooded with sex shops and the like..The area is also home to the infamous Moulin Rouge…

These are just a few pics…I still have a good bunch that I’ll be posting on the site in different parts as I mentioned above. Next up will be my pictures from the historic Musee de Louvre…You definitely want to stay tuned for those.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE.
What up folks! Sorry for the lack of blog updates, I’m currently in London and being the resident blogger at the brand, it’s been kind of tough to update the blog as I run around London. However, we do have lots of good things in the works for our brand so just hold on tight. In the meantime, enjoy some of the pics that I took while hanging out at Trafalgar Square here in London and some of the surrounding streets. Really nice place to chill, packed with tourists and locals, and there’s lots of other historical places within walking distance. Enjoy! I’ll try to add more updates when I can.
