It’s with great pleasure that we present to you the new mixtape from our good friend/MC – Panama. The 507 Flow is a body of work from Panama that shows how he’s grown as an artist. Truthfully, there’s only a few folks that I know that grind as hard as Panama. Series of buttons done by NYC artist Noah Lyon. These are so cool! Kind of inspired us to maybe do a series of our own?

COOKIES RULE.

This is funny and dope…Somebody sent me a link to a website where the words from the Wu-tang clan song – C.R.E.A.M (Cash rules everything around me) was re-worded to show the point of view of a person with a sweet tooth. It’s from a baking blog called Bake & Destroy and they titled it “Cake Rules Everything Around Me”. I’ve posted the lyrics below. To add our own flavor to it, I took out “Cake” and added “Cookies”…For added entertainment, I thought I’d put up a picture of some freshly baked cookies as well. Enjoy.

I grew up on the sweet side, the chubby cheek side
Candy insides, ain’t no lie.
At ice cream shops, with moms and pops
Banana splits with cherries on tops.

Hungry youth, rockin a sweet tooth
Only times I’m full’s when I’m asleep- truth!
I’m all over the snacks like icin’ on a sweet bun
First I eat this one, then I eat that one.

It was a dream for a teen who was a sugar fiend
Started snorting Pixie Stix at sixteen
Never talking to no fellows, busy eating marshmallows
Getting sick off licorice sticks.

No question I would quake for a chocolate milk shake
What I want, I will take
No question I’m no rookie when it comes to eating cookies
Steering clear of veggies like yo dad steers clear of bookies

My life never changed, I’m doing much the same
Sneaking bits of frosting like I’m insane.

Figured out I why I chose this route
Life’s too short not to dine out

Making cupcakes, I call’s em C’s
Rollin in buttercream, flossing like G’s
Yo- bakers respect me, my dentist detests me
Ch-chick-POW! I gotta go eat now.

Cookies Rule Everything Around Me
C.R.E.A.M.
Get the sugar
Choco- choco milk y’all

Just in case you wanted to compare or listen to the real Wu-tang song, go here. Funny thing is that, with the way music is now, I won’t be surprised if somebody made this into a real song (C.R.E.A.M spoof) and made millions off it….

POSERBUSTERS.

This is the last piece of our “Who killed Streetwear?” Spring ’09 collection of t-shirts. We’re dropping 4 pieces – Church of Hypebeast, Dis Brand That Brand, Cool For Sale and Poserbusters. As mentioned before, the theme of the collection is a parody of certain attitudes/mind frames evident in the streetwear scene. We’re basically poking fun at some of these views while still bringing these issues to the forefront. Look at it as us expressing what’s been on the mind of a lot of folks…

Here’s the parody behind this piece – As most of you probably already know, skateboarding culture has exploded past the core skate crowd within the last couple of years. There’s tons of big brands and small brands in different industries that are tying their products to skateboard culture in order to appeal to this whole “cool” audience associated with the culture. Some of the core skaters who’ve been doing it for years hate this, while others look at it as an opportunity to finally be able to make some money doing what they love. Hate or Love it, it is what it is and in my opinion it was bound to happen.

However, now that skateboarding has somewhat become “mass culture”, it has left behind certain side effects that doesn’t sit well with some folks and that’s the idea behind the Poserbusters piece. Being from NYC where skate culture has always been strong and supported by a core crowd who were mostly looked at as outcasts, this new found infatuation with the culture by big and small business has transformed the NYC skate scene and I’m sure it’s the same in other places around the world. What is happening is that new kids/people are being introduced to skateboarding who would have never thought about doing so before and this is happening in parts of NYC where if you skateboarded years ago, you would have been picked on for doing so or looked at as a weirdo. Now there’s nothing wrong with this and we’re all for people being open to the skate scene because it gives a lot of these kids something to do with their time rather than trying to get in trouble with doing other things but what is funny is the people who carry skateboards with them but don’t actually skate. Now that it is “cool” to be a skateboarder, these folks walk around with skateboards to be seen and looked at as cool. We call them posers. In our opinion, that’s just plain corny and that is the ideology behind the Poserbusters piece. We’re busting all the posers. For added fun, we took the Ghostbusters logo and re-worked it to fit our purposes. Classic design.

Collection will be dropping really soon. Guaranteed to go fast so stay tuned for more info on when we’ll be putting them up in order to buy yours.
