TOYSTREET – APRIL 2ND.

If you can remember, we told you about ToyStreet a few months ago. Well, it’s getting closer to that time and here’s the official event flyer/info for ToyStreet. It’s going to be a great event!

Cookies -n- Cream presents ToyStreet. ToyStreet is a grassroots event that aims to connect toy collectors, artists, vendors and people who share the same interests, in a unique experience where they can buy/sell/trade designer toys and other related merchandise such as art, clothing, handcrafted goods, sneakers etc. The goal is to foster more of a personal interaction between artists/brands/collectors/customers in a fun setting, and build a community of people who all appreciate creativity and the arts.

ToyStreet will take place in New York City on April 2nd, 2010 from 4pm – 9pm. The location of the event is 268 Mulberry Street (Between Prince St & Houston St) and is easily accessible by a number of different subway stations. We’re also happy to have some of the most prominent designer toy blogs as sponsors for ToyStreet – SpankyStokes, Vinyl Pulse, Toys R Evil, Plastic and Plush.

Here’s just a teaser of what to expect:

- Booths with exclusive items by respected artists/toy designers such as TooFly, Sucklord, Dave Cortes (Inu Art/Pugzee) just to name a few. Brands like GoodWood offering one time exclusive items that will only be available at ToyStreet….and many more artists/brands/toy collectors!

- Live music performances by the hard rocking Brooklyn band Shinobi Ninja and a special guest. Also, live painting by NYC street art collective URNewYork and Lee Iturbe.

- Room full of toy collectors/designers/artists/fans/vendors and people who appreciate the arts!

ToyStreet will be a wonderful experience! See you on April 2nd!

WOMEN ARE HEROES BY JR.

I’ve always loved French artist JR’s work…his pieces are always so larger than life to me..and this recent piece he did on the bridges and walls along the Siene in Paris is no different. Check out the video.

SKWAK FOR COOKIES.

As you know or should know, our boy Skwak recently had a signing for his Oil Slick Dunny release at KidRobot London. Heard the turnout was great, thanks to all who went. Here’s some pics below of Skwak making some fans happy…and as you should notice, he’s wearing our King’s Crest t-shirt. Dope. All pictures were taken by the good folks at The Daily Street UK. Check out their site for the event recap and also Kidrobot’s Flickr page for more pics.

GENUINE.

I might be late on this but just happened to see this video for the first time today and was really inspired by it. Great story of an immigrant tailor who has managed to accomplish many successful things without compromising the type of person he is. I’m also super impressed with the way the piece was shot. Very well executed. Check it out and be inspired as well.

Cookies -n- Cream presents ToyStreet. ToyStreet is a new event that will provide opportunities for toy collectors, artists and vendors alike to unite in a unique experience where they can buy, sell and trade designer toys and other related merchandise such as art, clothing, handcrafted goods, sneakers etc. ToyStreet will also include live painting and music performances by different artists.

OTHER ISH.

Fresh. Cool. Sick. Dope. Awesome. Nice. Yeah, just some of what people have said about this…but we kind of knew that already. After all, we did make it and we only make stuff that makes people use those kind of adjectives. Thanks folks, you all are far too kind.

Dig in some more right here.

TOYNIVERSE.

We were down at Toy Tokyo a few days ago, doing a shoot with the owner Lev for Stay True Vol 2. Toy Tokyo is one of the stores that helped usher in the designer toys scene in NYC. Lev the owner has been collecting toys for years and has a long history with the scene. We got a really good interview with him and had a rare opportunity to film his private collection, which is not something he shares freely. I don’t even think his private collection has ever been captured on film…he has one of the best collections of toy art around, it’s like a private toy museum…you have to see it! Definitely something you want to look forward to on Vol 2! I took pictures of some toys in the store and you can check them out below. I wanted to take pictures of his private collection but we weren’t allowed to, we could only get it on film which is even better…so Stay True Vol 2 is already a classic in the making!

VIGOR.

Last night, I stopped by the Jonathan Levine gallery to check out their latest show. It featured the works of Doze Green, Josh Keyes and Saelee Oh – all incredibly talented artists. Saw a good number of friends down at the show too…unfortunately, I didn’t bring the camera with me so I wasn’t able to take pictures but it was definitely a great show. I really enjoyed taking in the pieces on display and admiring what made each person’s work unique in its own way. Check out some of the artwork that was in the show below, I took them off the Jonathan Levine’s gallery website and you can go there for more pictures/information. Enjoy…by the way, thanks to Jonathan Levine for the compliment on this t-shirt that I had on.

The 1st row of pictures are some of Doze’s pieces, second is Josh, then third row is Saelee Oh.

ONWARD.

2010. New Year. New beginnings. Fresh outlook on life. Thanks to everyone of you folks for supporting and coming along with us on our journey to continue building an incredible brand. We appreciate all the love from every last one of you and it’s been a pleasure growing this baby (Cookies -n- Cream) with you.

As we proceed, we’re going to be taking things into the next level of our brand. We’ve built a good following of people worldwide and the buzz on our brand has grown steadily. It’s taken us a lot of work to get to where we are, especially since our approach has been to be more organic with our growth and figure out ways to sell our items by ourselves rather than try to find as many stores to carry your brand which is the normal approach for many brands. While we do intend to put our products in very exclusive & select stores, our goal has always been to challenge the norm, whether it’s with our products or the way we do business. We love the creative challenge involved in our approach to growth and it’s something we will continue to do.

We once again look forward to growing with you and definitely stay tuned for more wonderful products from us. More clothing, toys and whatever else we decide to do. It’s been an amazing journey so far and we look forward to the future of Cookies -n- Cream. Cheers.
