MUSEUM OF DESIGNER TOYS – PART 1.

As an offspring of our Museum of Street Art Series, I am happy to announce a new installation we’ll be doing here – the MUSEUM OF DESIGNER TOYS (MODT pronounced MOT..the (D in DT) is silent). As I will not assume that everybody knows what a designer toy is, here’s the definition derived from Wikipedia – Designer toys is a term used to describe toys and other collectibles that are produced in limited editions (as few as 50 or as many as 2000 pieces) and created by artists and designers. To learn more, read the full entry here.

The MODT will be an ongoing series that will showcase designer toys from different artists/designers around the world. We eventually hope someday to be able to make this an actual museum here in New York City (with your support) but for now, it’ll strictly be images online. Here’s all the basic info about the MODT series -

1.) There will be a new MUSEUM OF DESIGNER TOYS (MODT) installation every 10 days or so (I say or so because we’re also busy working on our own clothing and toys here at Cookies -n- Cream amongst other projects so we tend to be extra busy sometimes…so bear with us, plus the wait makes the next installation more exciting anyway. Gives you something to look forward to.)

2.) Each installation will showcase between 6 – 10 pieces and I will not know exactly what will be featured in each installation until the day of. This is as much a process of discovery for me as it will be for all of you and to be honest that’s part of what makes doing this enjoyable.

3.) I may do a feature installation every now and then that will feature only the works of one artist/designer. The feature will include original pieces and custom work by the artist/designer.

4.) If there is a toy/artist you feel we should know about and would like to inform us, please send an email to us at theMODT(at)BakedinNY.com

5.) Of course, all images belong to the artist/brand/designer and the MODT is only for public entertainment and information.

6.) If you would like to purchase a particular piece (provided it’s not sold out or a one of a kind piece that’s been bought already), please let us know by sending an email to MODTcrew(at)BakedinNY.com and we will contact the artist/designer and provide you with all the necessary information. Most of the artists/designers are also available to do one of a kind custom pieces if you are interested.

7.) You might agree or not agree with some of the choices in each installation. That’s fine. Taste is a subjective matter and each person is entitled to their own opinion about the pieces in each installation. That’s the beauty of art – people being able to derive their own opinion/feeling(s) about each piece. So stop bitchin’ if you don’t agree with any of the choices and just enjoy the installation.

That’s it. Enjoy the MUSEUM OF DESIGNER TOYS – PART 1.
