KITO!
If you know our brand, then you definitely know who KITO is. KITO is our brand insignia/emblem and one of the first designer toys we will be releasing. We released some pictures of him as a clay sculpt a while ago which you can check out here and now we have some more pics of KITO as he comes along in the process to becoming a final piece.

The pictures above are of KITO as a white prototype….fresh out Dave Cortes’ studio. We will be releasing KITO in the original colors as well as different colors and the piece will be about 3.75″ tall. We’ll be collaborating with different artists to do custom painted pieces and will also release the white ones as DIY (Do it Yourself) pieces for all of you folks that want to custom paint/design your own pieces. We’re so excited to see KITO coming along. It’s going to be crazy…we’re even planning on doing an art show with KITO designs from different graffiti/street artists around NYC. Lots of fun plans for KITO. As you know, KITO is an art piece as much as it’s a designer toy so all pieces will be extra limited. Better grab yours once we drop ‘em. Stay tuned…like your life depended on it…which it does if you realize how classic of a piece KITO will be.

DOPETASTIC.
I’m a sucker for great design and architecture. Have always been. I love to see people push the envelope of creativity with small/large spaces and objects – houses, buildings, rooms, cars, furniture etc You name it. While checking out one of my daily internet sites – TheCoolHunter, I came across some fun and cool design work. First up is this funhouse created for an art show in Miami by Miami based art collective FriendsWithYou. It looks so dope. I love the playfulness of it yet so simple…

Second, we have pictures of a school in Berlin called Erika-Mann Grundschule II. Why couldn’t I have gone to a school like this? Some kids just get to have all the fun…

and last, a few pictures of a single family residence in Oporto, Portugal created by 40-year-old, Lisbon-based architect Pedro Gadanho. I wouldn’t mind my spot looking like that…not at all.

Look forward to more design related stuff on here….

STAY TRUE: TOOFLY.
We just wrapped up a shoot with the legendary female graffiti artist TooFly for our Stay True Project and we had such a good time. TooFly is fun and very intelligent. We’ve worked with her before in the past so it was great to catch up and see what each other is up to. She’s mad cool and you folks are definitely going to be seeing some collaborations between Cookies -n- Cream and TooFly for various projects. The interview went well and the video will be dropping real soon. In the meantime, enjoy some pics from the shoot.

TooFly also customizes toys…and she’s ill. She’s done some pieces for KidRobot..see below. By the way she gave me the Fatcap which is the one on the far right. (Thanks TooFly!)

verdict – She’s dope. She is Too Fly. Stay tuned for the video interview coming soon.

BIGGIE x WARHOL “NOTORIOUS” DROP.
We told you we were coming into this year with a vengeance…it’s gonna be straight heat with everything we drop. Our first drop of this year is the Notorious B.I.G x Andy Warhol Collection. With the release of the autobiographical film about the life of Notorious B.I.G aka Biggie Smalls aka Big Poppa hitting movie theaters today, we had to pay homage to our hometown legend in our own way. Knowing that the movie would come out today, we decided we wanted to drop a Biggie piece on the same day to commemorate the legend – Notorious B.I.G.
But there’s a problem with doing anything Biggie related…there’s just too many Biggie related items in the market and we just didn’t want to do another Biggie product just to do it so we figured we would have to bring a fresh approach to it…We wanted to create a piece that drew on some of our brand influences….and that’s what led us to the concept of this piece – Biggie x Warhol. Two NYC legends that conquered their respective fields and influenced generations to come. Do I have to say more? I’ll answer for you – NO. This piece is an ode to greatness…pure greatness. White t-shirts. Black sweatshirts. Biggie pic with “Warhol effect” on the front. Piece of Biggie’s rhyme from Juicy “Spread Love, It’s the Brooklyn way” on the back. Limited pieces. Get yours now because you know what I’m about to say next – “once they sell out, that’s it. No re-prints”. Classic piece. Nuff said.

better hurry and get yours before they’re all gone…wear it to go see the Biggie movie. Dope.

GIVE PROPS.
It’s not really our style to throw too many designer toys on here other than the stuff we’re working on or from people we know since this is the Cookies -n- Cream blog where we get to communicate with you folks about what’s going on with the brand but when we come across stuff that’s dope, we just can’t help it. Case in point – the toy pieces from Coarsetoys. Coarsetoys is a designer toys brand based out of Hong Kong and I’m a big fan of the work from these cats. The detail and design of their pieces are pretty intricate and impressive. But don’t take my word for it. Check out these fine pieces of art from them, then go here to see more…

Rather than me continue to talk about Shala, I like to let people discover stuff on their own…give them an experience…so with that said, go check out more about Shala at myspace.com/shalaesquire.

BIGGIE.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure by now you know of the Notorious B.I.G movie titled “Notorious” that’s hitting theaters on Jan 16th. Being that we’re a collective that started out of Brooklyn NY and diehard New Yorkers, it was only right that we paid homage to one of our own by adding our own “history defining piece” to coincide with the Biggie movie drop. This Friday – Jan 16th (same day the movie hits theaters), we’ll be dropping limited t-shirts and sweatshirts of our “history defining piece” dedicated to the memory of one of the greatest MC’s to ever grace the microphone – Notorious B.I.G. I can’t give too much details on our “history defining piece” yet but let’s just say it’s epic and you better move fast once we put them up for sale…Here’s the trailer for the Biggie movie just to get you in the right frame of mind for our Biggie pieces dropping this week…
Here’s a hint – Andy Warhol meets Notorious B.I.G
By the way, if you’re going to see the movie, the only way to do it is with one of our “history defining” Biggie pieces dropping this week…there’s officially no other way to go see that movie…No other way.

STAY TRUE: ALI VEGAS.
I mentioned briefly that we were working on a top secret project for our brand and I’ve been giving hints here and there. As you may now know, the project revolves around our brand motto -Stay True. Still not ready to reveal all the details yet but we’ll be dropping more info as we move along with the project. First, I put up pics of our shoot with master toy sculptor/designer Dave Cortes and now I have some pics from a shoot with Ali Vegas.
Ali Vegas is one of the dopest rappers in the game and if you can remember, I wrote about him a while back…This cat is ill. Period. Google him, youtube him, do whatever you have to…and you’ll see the talent and track record. Not only is he an ill MC, he’s also an intelligent individual and it’s cool to see rap cats that are actually smart….We reached out to him to get involved with our Stay True project and he welcomed us with open arms. Thanks to his manager Mike Brinks for making it happen too. Here’s a couple of pics from the shoot…the video interview will drop real soon. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it. I’m officially calling it the best Ali Vegas interview ever…yeah ever…

Check out Ali at www.myspace.com/alivegas
Also, there might be a Cookies x Cream brand/Ali Vegas mixtape in the near future…you’ll just have to wait and see but you know it’ll be dope…expect nothing less.

KEITH HARING – THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.
As you know, we’re big on art (and if you didn’t, now you do). Legends like Basquiat, Keith Haring, Warhol, Dali etc all influence us in some way and that’s very visible in our work/products. There’s a Keith Haring installation at the Deitch in L.I.C (Long Island City) in New York called “The Ten Commandments” and if you can make it, it definitely looks like it’ll be well worth it. We haven’t been able to make it down there yet due to our crazy hectic schedule but we’ll be doing so before the installation is up. Here’s some more info and pics from The Deitch website…
Keith Haring – The Ten Commandments
November 08, 2008 — February 15, 2009
4-40 44th Drive, Long Island City
EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 15, 2009
The Ten Commandments, one of Keith Haring’s most powerful series of paintings, will be presented at Deitch Studios, Long Island City, from November 8, 2008 – February 15, 2009. The works portray the Ten Commandments from Haring’s point of view, combining a traditional Biblical interpretation with the artist’s liberating spirit and apocalyptic vision.

STAY TRUE.
The driving force behind our brand has always been our motto – Stay True. The lifeblood of our brand lies in those words. It is the very essence of what the Cookies -n- Cream brand is all about and has become the message we try to push forward with our brand. “Stay True” to us basically means stay true to yourself and do what you love regardless of anyone’s opinion. Be yourself and push ahead with whatever dreams or aspirations you may have. Be fearless and prepared to conquer any challenges that may/will step in your way of you achieving your goals. It’s a powerful message and we wouldn’t be where we are today without that motto. We’re presently working on a project based around that motto and while we’re not ready to reveal details about the project yet, we can show you some sketches of what our “Stay True” logo will look like for the project….Enjoy…by the way notice that we used KITO as an exclamation mark. How ill is that?

I’m super excited about the project and I can promise that it’ll be dope as hell…You can quote me on that.

PETER KATO – THE ASTROMONGER.
While down at Dave’s studio filming for our video project, we met with a nice gentleman by the name of Peter Kato. Peter has an extensive background in the designer toys scene and managed the Toy Tokyo store for a good number of years. Nowadays, Peter is working on his own show called The Astromonger’s Monster Challenge. The concept of the show is that he gives an artist/toy sculptor some text with no background info and asks that individual to create a monster based on that text. Pretty cool idea. What’s even more impressive is the line-up of folks that Peter’s been able to gather for the show. Should be really interesting to see the pieces that will be created and guess what, we’ll be down there to catch it all on video and get an interview with Peter himself. Thanks Peter! I can’t wait…info below.

CINEMATIC.
We popped in renowned toy sculptor/designer – Dave Cortes‘ studio a few days ago to film him for a video project we’re working on for our brand. We had a blast and the shoot was dope. We’re not ready to show the video yet or say what the video project is about but let’s just say, it will be nothing like you’ve ever seen before and you’ll enjoy every last second of what you’ll see. That’s all I have to say for now. However, I did take a few pics of the filming session…filmed by one of our own – Jon Blak. Enjoy the images below and stay tuned for more info about the video project. It’s going to be sick!

That’s all you get for now. Also, Dave’s Pugzee will be dropping soon so hold on tight!
