PUGZEE IS COMING HOME.
Tell a friend! Tell a friend! Extra, Extra, read all about it! Pugzee is almost here. If you remember, back in October, I posted production shots of Pugzee which you can see here. Dave Cortes mentioned to me the other day that the pieces will be ready for sale within the next couple of months, which means they’ll be here before you know it. The Pugzee website is now up so you can check it out and get all the latest scoop on the gangster Pugzee. Dave gave me one of the pieces and it’s probably one of the best designer toy pieces I’ve seen to date. I’ll try to take some pictures soon to post here. The detail, workmanship and look is of the highest caliber. Pugzee comes with his own cigar, a baseball bat and a Kangol hat…that’s ill. He’ll also be coming with his own comic book and will be available in different outfits and colorways. As it gets close to the time when Pugzee will drop, we will do a Cookies -n- Cream x Pugzee t-shirt as well so look out for that. In the meantime, go here to get all the scoop on the original gangster – Pugzee.

SHOW AND TELL.
Last night, we got invited to an art show by our friend and master toy designer/sculptor – Dave Cortes. The show featured one of the guys from Dave’s studio – Massa along with other artists. We rolled through and it was a really nice event. The show was put together by a dude named Frankie Velez who Dave introduced us to. Good dude and we’re definitely going to be getting together with Frankie to collaborate on stuff in the near future. The event was ill – Dope art, pretty girls, lots of networking and booze..lots of it. I was able to get a couple of pics to post here and I would have gotten more, but we were too busy having a good time and networking…Enjoy the pics below.

This is Massa from Dave’s Studio….

Massa and a friend…

and these next 3 pieces of art are all Massa’s pieces..sick.

this is Jamila..nice young lady we met there…

can of PBR in the lower left corner..yeah, the PBR’s were flowing…

The Dali piece and skateboard were done by Byron – a tattoo artist from the Lower East Side…I love his work…that Dali piece…speechless..shit is off the hook!…you can hit him up at myspace.com/byronstattoos

I really like this piece and it reminds me of Biggie’s Ready to Die album cover…

To get in touch with any of the artists or inquire about any of the pieces, send an email to Frankie at brascowun(at)aol.com.

SARTORIALISTIC.
One of the blogs I check on a regular basis is that of Scott Schuman called The Sartorialist. Some of you may be familiar with the blog already so this post is really for those who are not, plus it gives me a chance to jack some of Scott’s pictures to post on here. Scott is a noted individual in the realm of fashion and rather than do a half ass job writing about him, I’ll let you read his bio in his own words here. His blog – The Sartorialist is one where he posts fashion pictures of people on the streets from all over the world…I know I just made it sound so plain, but the blog is way doper than I can put in words. I really enjoy going there and seeing how people from all over the world are dressing and it’s all very current. Scott goes everywhere and visits fashion shows all over the world, and you never know who’s picture he’ll have on there..even celebrities and designers. I took some of the pics from the last couple of months that I liked and you can check them out below, but I would advise that you keep The Sartorialist as one of your favorite web destinations..it’s worth it.

I like a lot of the pictures and it took a lot for me to just stop at ten….

PREPARE.
I did this post a few weeks ago showing a sneak peek of one of the new designer toys we’re working on other than KITO. While we’re still not ready to show you all the images, I figured I’d drop another sneak peek…this time it’s the back profile…trust me, these pieces will be sick. I’ll tell you the name of the piece soon (and it’s not “BOOM” just because it says so on the back)…Hold on tight…

MUSEUM OF STREET ART – PART 3.
Even though I always do posts with street art, it’s been a while since I’ve done stuff under our Museum of Street Art series. For those who are new to this, check out Part 1 and Part 2. I’ve not been able to hit the streets of NY to get some fresh street art due to how busy we’ve been, but the good ‘ole Wooster Collective has always held us down. Doing so again today, check out some fresh art below courtesy of the great folks at Wooster Collective. We love ‘em like cooked food…Enjoy.

SPRING ’09 COLLECTION PREVIEW.
While we finish up with selling the last few pieces of our fall ’08 sweatshirts, we’re almost done with work on our Spring ’09 collection…we’ve been very busy and we’re going to be dropping a ton of stuff starting with the Spring ’09 pieces. The Spring ’09 collection is titled “Who Killed Streetwear?” and it’s a parody of the whole streetwear scene and the attitudes that permeate the culture…it’s all in good fun (so F you if you catch feelings) as we consider our brand part of the streetwear culture as well so we ourselves are not excused from “our roast”.
The collection will include 4 – 5 t-shirts and since it’ll still be a little chilly in Spring, we’re going to be dropping a couple of sweatshirts as well as a separate drop. I will be posting the graphics for each design and the piece plus the reasoning behind it as we progress…We were hesitant to do this at first because we didn’t want people to bite our ideas but hey, they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery…
First up is “The Church of Hypebeast“. If you can remember, I posted a rough sketch of the design here, and here’s the completed version.

Here’s the “roast” – Hypebeast is the most popular streetwear blog. Millions of people check it daily just to see what’s new and to learn about different brands/products. People that follow/read hypebeast devotedly are referred to as Hypebeasts, and these are the people who will buy something they see on Hypeabeast just because Hypebeast posted it on their blog which to them means that it’s automatically “cool”.”The Church of Hypebeast” tee is a play on this whole mind frame, and shows a couple of hypebeasts worshipping Hypebeast…detail was very important in this design and you can see that from the people in the “congregation” to the shades of the rays of light emanating from the Hypebeast screen as it hits the congregation at different angles…I can’t wait till we get this into production on the t-shirts…I can tell you that it will definitely sell out quick and maybe piss off some hypebeasts..but that’s the whole point – we want to make you think or feel some way – whether you like it or hate it, just as long as we get some kind of emotion out of you…it is at that point that we feel like we have gotten our point across..(this is the part where you give us a round of applause for our artistic integrity).
