DIS BRAND, THAT BRAND.
Here’s another one of the pieces from our Spring ’09 collection titled “Who Killed Streetwear?“. This piece is called “Dis Brand, That Brand“. For those who need to play catch up, you can check out the first two pieces of the collection by going here – Church of Hypebeast and Cool For Sale. The whole collection is a parody of the streetwear scene and some of the issues that’s destroying the scene.

The idea behind “Dis Brand, That Brand” is that there is a saturation of brands in the market. I sometimes swear that there’s more clothing brands than the number of customers available. It’s unbelievable how many brands there are and new ones keep popping up. It kind of bothers me because how is the consumer supposed to make a choice when there are too many brands available and for the most part, a lot of it is just garbage. So the question becomes, how is the consumer supposed to make a choice when faced with an infinite amount of brands all fighting for their attention?. It all just leads to confusion and that is the theme of this piece – “Confusion”. The character is confused by all the different brands out there and can’t make a choice.
We are still deciding on if we should keep these colors so the colors may change but the design will remain the same. I really love the way the design came out though. Pretty sick.
