MOB DEEP.

Graphics for future Cookies Mob Tee? The Cookies Mob Tee re-mixed? Yes? No? Guess you’ll just have to keep checking back to see.

In the mean time, we have about 4 pieces left (2 M, 2 XL) of our classic – The Cookies Mob tee. Limited numbers and once sold out, that’s it. Never to be re-printed again. This tee was so popular that we have now named our street team/collective – The Cookies Mob. Send an email to thecookiesmob(at)BakedinNY.com to become a member and get “made”.

They can’t stop This Thing Of Ours. We’re just getting started.

Museum of Street Art – Part 1.

I was taking care of some business down in my stomping grounds of Soho NY and came across some really nice street art. Not that I haven’t seen these before, but I never took pictures to post here. So today, you folks get to enjoy pics from a section we’re going to be calling the “Museum of Street Art” aka MOSA. MOSA is a section where we’ll be showcasing art/interesting pics from the streets or individuals we come across. Hopefully someday, we can actually build this into a real museum where street artists can showcase their works, and people can visit to enjoy them. Till then, keep checking back here for cool visuals.

First, I ran into the cats from Destroy & Rebuild. Pretty cool dudes. Destroy & Rebuild is an art collective from Brooklyn NY, and their work is crazy fresh. Pretty intricate too, check out some pics I took below and then go here for more. You can also holla at them via email at destroyandrebuildnyc(at)gmail.com.

Then I saw this bus parked, and I couldn’t help but stop and take a couple pics.

More soon. We’re just getting started. Welcome to MOSA – Museum of Street Art.

THE WARRIORS.

Time to take you folks on a ride with some classic New York sh*t. The movie – THE WARRIORS. This movie will forever be timeless and one of the dopest movies to have ever come out of NY. This movie really captured the streets of NY like nothing else before it’s time. The authenticity and attitude of the movie is like none other and nothing says NYC more than this movie. If you’ve never seen it, trust me when I tell you that you are missing out on an important part of NY’s culture, past and present. Even the clothes in the movie are big influences on today’s fashion, that’s how ahead of it’s time this movie was. I mean, we’re talking about a movie that came out in 1979. Go here for a very extensive database of info about the movie. I also jacked them for pics and the info below.

These are the different gangs which are in The Warriors movie, including all the gangs the Warriors run in to, as well as some of the lesser known gangs. My favorite gangs were The Warriors (of course), The Lizzies, The Furies and The Riffs. You?

Turnbull AC’s

The Turnbulls are the first gang The Warriors encounter. The Warriors have to run away from them at Gunhill, (The Bronx) to get on the train home.

Turnbull AC'sThe Turnbulls are a mixed bunch who hang around on old school buses that have been painted green. They carry chains and planks of wood for weapons.

Orphans

OrphansAfter The Warriors escape from the Turnbull AC’s, they think they are home free. Unfortunately, a train station is on fire forcing The Warriors to walk through Tremont which is the turf of the Orphans.Orphans
OrphansThe Orphans are not very well known (and are very low class), and didn’t even know about the big meeting up at The Bronx and are not on the Riff’s network. They are armed with razor blades. Mercy decides to leave the Orphans and join The Warriors.

Baseball Furies

Baseball FuriesThe Baseball Furies are one of the most feared gangs. Swan, Ajax, Snowball and Cowboy run straight into these guys after running away from the cops.Baseball Furies
Baseball FuriesThe Furies wear baseball gear and carry baseball bats which they are keen to swing in Riverside Park. The leader shown here fights Ajax and shows that he can be quite nifty with a bat.

The Lizzies

The LizziesThis all-female gang is waiting at Union Square station when Vermin, Cochise and Rembrandt arrive. They end up going back to The Lizzies flat. The Warriors are seduced, except Rembrandt who suspects that something is going on.The Lizzies

The LizziesAt the flat, the The Lizzies suddenly lock the door and announce that The Warriors shot Cyrus which is when they find out that they were framed. The Lizzies try to shoot them but only manage to cut Rembrandt’s arm with a knife.

Punks

PunksThe Punks hang out in a subway station at The Bowery, Manhattan. The lead guy (on the right) wears rollerskates and skates around the station. They look a bit like farmers in their dungarees.Punks
PunksWielding chains and baseball bats, they fight The Warriors in the men’s room. This is one of the best fight scenes in the movie, with people flying into mirrors and through doors.

Rogues

RoguesRogues
RoguesThe Rogues appear throughout the movie as Luther (centre), was the one who shot Cyrus. He framed The Warriors for the crime and for the rest of the night they are on the hunt to kill The Warriors. The Rogues are not the smartest bunch and come from Hells Kitchen in Manhattan! Cropsey is The Rogue to Luther’s left (right on the picture).

Riffs

RiffsThe (Gramercy) Riffs are the largest gang in the city and Cyrus was their leader until he got shot. Understandably, they want to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Masai became the leader when Cyrus died.Riffs

Hurricanes

The Hurricanes are from Spanish Harlem. The only time we see them in the movie is at the big meeting.

SCREWBALL – COOKIES N CREAM

It’s always cool to see people’s interpretations of our brand name. One of our customers sent us this song. It’s by a hardcore rap group out of Queens NY named Screwball and the title of the song is Cookies n Cream. The song has been out for a while and was featured on a mixtape titled Best of QB Mixtape. I actually remember these dudes because they came out with a song a while back titled “Who Shot Rudy” about Rudy Giuliani when he was mayor of NY, and caught a lot of flack from the media and Rudy himself at the time. Here’s a clip of that situation. Check out their song – Cookies n Cream below.

Screwball – Cookies n Cream

“…Cookies n Cream is the ultimate scheme/Watch my Screw team intervene, shining from a Queens scene/Cookies n Cream is the hustler’s dream/dip it in, take a bite, tell me what it taste like…”

MAN BUILDS BATMOBILE. AMAZING.

This was so crazy that I just had to share with everybody. Some guy built the Batmobile from the movie – The Dark Knight by hand. An actual working model, all by himself, parts and everything. All in his own garage, with nothing more than pictures and the movies themselves. That’s crazy and we love it. I caught this over at Gizmodo. He’s mentioned that he won’t be selling it and he did it for himself. Oh by the way, he’s almost done with the Batsuit as well, and he’ll be working on a Batpod next. Sick.

YEO & THE FRESH GOODS

This is an artist you should know about. Yeo Choong and his band – The Fresh Goods have a really cool sound.

Yeo

Hailing from Australia, Yeo is really doing something fresh with music. I listened to his new album – Trouble being Yourself and I must say I think it’s pretty good. It’s cool too that he has a band called The Fresh Goods which ties into our brand name – Cookies n Cream lol but I digress, the music sounds great. Don’t believe me? Check him out at myspace.com/snackswithyeo. Make sure you listen to Fishin with Aidan while you’re there. Fishin with Aidan has a vibe that’s like N.E.R.D meets reggae meets Super Mario Brothers..I’m telling you it’s crazy. Two Sides of a Door is another cool song too, but rather than me telling you about all his songs, why don’t you just go listen and let the music speak for itself.

COMPLEX MAG x N.E.R.D x LUPE x KAWS x REAS

Complex magazine just released some pictures from their August/September issue. It features N.E.R.D and Lupe Fiasco, plus artists KAWS and REAS. It looks pretty dope. I love how colorful and playful it is, definitely something we can relate to at Cookies n Cream since our brand is a fun and playful luxury brand. Check out the pics below.

PIMP MY SKATEBOARD.

This post right here is for all the skaters that get down with the Cookies n Cream brand. I just found about about this company via Core77 that does fully customized skateboards. Rather than just doing custom designs on the board which is the norm, Corbusboards is pushing the limit by customizing the actual skateboard. The company is creating one-off fully customized skateboards by hand. That’s crazy..check out the pics below.

Now that’s what we call skateboard pimpin. At the moment, they only have aluminum ones which are not recommended for doing tricks, but they’re working on the wood ones. However, tricks or not, these boards just look fly as hell plus don’t forget that you can get your own custom board done based on whatever design you want. Sick. Step your game up and pimp your skateboard homey.
