MEET KEHINDE WILEY

As some of you who have been following our brand closely may know, one of our major influences has always been art. Whether it’s street art or contemporary art, it doesn’t matter – we just appreciate fresh and creative work. I just checked out the latest work from Kehinde Wiley’s exhibition titled The World Stage : Africa, Lagos-Dakkar, and I’m really feeling the pieces. For those who may have never heard of Kehinde Wiley, he’s an artist who is based out of NY and has shown his work in many museums around the country. His pieces are a representation of African American culture, that he combines with 17th-19th century western style art. So for example, one of his pieces showcases Ice-T in a Napoleon style pose which you can see below. I’ve also included some of his other pieces below and you can check out his website to learn more about him. He currently has a solo exhibition here in NY that will be running till October 26th.
